Importment Things

Important Things
by Tim Liu (5th grade, Oct.19, 2006)

What do a basketball, a spell bowl medal, and an airplane have in common? Why is this odd assortment of thing important to me? If you continue reading, you'll find out why these are important to me.

My first object is a medal that I won in the PHM Spell Bowl competition when Prairie Vista (my school) came in first place. It is important to me because I worked extremely hard to earn it. This medal represents that Prairie Vista's spell bowl team can rise above the other PHM schools, which is quite important to me.

The second thing that I brought is a basketball. I enjoy basketball and have played it for five years. People believe that short people can't play well, but I still play even though I'm short. Basketball is also one of my favorite pastimes.

The third and final object I brought is an airplane. I built it about eight months ago with cardboard, tape, a water bottle, and paper. This airplane is one of the best aircraft I've built. I began building planes when I was seven-year-old. Building and designing is fun for me since I want to be an engineer.

Isn't it amazing how this odd collection of items go together? All because they're important to me. What's important to you?
